Great Lakes Australia (GLA) is the Australian branch of Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC (Great Lakes).

Great Lakes is licensed by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and holds Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) 318603. 
Great Lakes is authorised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) to operate as a general insurer in Australia.

Great Lakes - our relationship with the Munich Re Group

GLA uses two distinct models for accessing insurance business.  The first is with brokers, underwriting agencies and associations that are looking to develop niche insurance programmes.  The second is individual acceptances of Large Single Risks.  The very nature of GLA’s work means that every insurance deal and every client presents a different and unique opportunity.

Great Lakes is a 100% subsidiary of the Munich Reinsurance Company and enjoys the Group AA- (Standard & Poor’s) rating.

An additional benefit is that GLA has access to the experience and expertise of the Munich Re Group to facilitate the research and development of niche programmes for our clients.
